Google Secrets - 141,228 Visitors + Counting
To be honest, Google is quite happy to reveal a lot of it's secrets, all you need is to install Google Analytics (it's free). For example, I was reviewing one of my sites earlier today and these are the 'Google secrets' I discovered:
1. Year to date I have had 141,228 Visits, 274,099 Pageviews @ 1.94 Pages/Visit.
2. The site is growing nice and steady and has reached around 2,000 visitors per day. It is certainly trending in the right direction.
3. But to me, these are the most interesting facts, the 'Google secrets' that will probably relate to your site too. This is where my traffic comes from:
18.96% Direct Traffic
13.29% Referring Sites
67.75% Search Engines
So, 67.75% = 95,684 visitors but Google sent 48,960 of those visitors, so in short, Google is responsible for around 35% of my TOTAL traffic. I'll repeat that, directly from Google Search, I get 35% of my TOTAL traffic. When you add in the effect that has on the direct traffic and referring sites, I conservatively estimate that Google Search is responsible for at least 50% of my total traffic.
That is the Google secret I wanted to share with you. If you are not targeting your search campaigns SPECIFICALLY at Google, then at least 50% of your efforts are being wasted.
The other important point to realize is that these 90 odd thousand visitors came from just about 30,000 DIFFERENT search terms. So, if you haven't got a long tail keyword strategy in place then you are in trouble. Please see No 1 in 48 hours for more details.
Finally, if you haven't got Google Analytics installed then you are playing with one hand behind your back and yes, you are definitely wearing a blindfold…
